A family including red spider lilies, daffodils, onions, and chives. Under the APG system, it now incorporates the Allioideae (formerly in Liliaceae and Alliaceae). Many species have beautiful flowers and are widely cultivated as ornamentals. Some species contain toxic alkaloids such as lycorine.
