Golden-rayed Lily🌷
Lilium auratum
ヤマユリ
A perennial in the lily family, endemic to Japan and distributed in Honshū from Kinki northwards. The floral emblem of Kanagawa Prefecture. One of Japan's largest lilies (1–2 m tall), bearing massive white flowers 20–25 cm across in July and August. Each petal bears a yellow central band and crimson spots, and the flowers are intensely fragrant. The scaly bulb ('yuri-ne') is edible and was once an important export. Known as the 'King of Lilies'.
